Royal Palm Bugs Affects on Palm Plants

The Royal Palm Bug is a small pest that feeds exclusively on the royal palm tree. They are tiny (1/10 inch in length), with a flat oval shape. They are pale yellow with red eyes and two wings. Females lay one egg a day during the spring.

Damage

Royal Palm Bugs rarely kill the host palm tree, but the newly-hatched bugs feed on the leaves they are born on, producing unsightly yellow spots.

Location

Royal Palm Bugs are found only in Florida.
